Dan Guthrie is an artist, researcher and writer whose practice interrogates who has access to representations and mis-representations of Blackness, utilising strategies of interpretation and withholding to question not only what is shown, but what remains unseen.

Guthrie is a resident artist at the Rijksakademie, and is currently working on a new commission for Mead Gallery, Coventry, and Film and Video Umbrella, responding to a proposal for an unmade TV documentary found in the archives of the late Jamaican-British cultural theorist Stuart Hall.
